The Cherrypickers' Guide has long been a useful tool when it comes to variety hunting! The numbering system has been chaged, and there was virtually no way to expand to add more varieties and keep the same system going. The new system uses the Date, and Mint as part of the new FS listing number. The first 2 or 3 digits, tell the denomination and type. The next set of number and letter tell us the Date and Mint. The last set of numbers is the actual number of that variety. There is a system used for that number. 01-19 are for DDO's: 21-49 are for Date and Mintmark varieties; 51-59 are for DDR's; and 61-99 are for other reverse varieties. There will always be some exceptions as absolutely necessary.

The old listing numbers are still being used by many and I say that it will stay that way for a good long time!
